The VDI conference in Ulm, which focused on the topic of “Firing and boilers – deposits and corrosion in large combustion plants”, was very well received by experts and trade visitors. Over the course of two days, the event offered in-depth insights and a valuable exchange on current challenges and innovations in the industry. One of the highlights was the presentation by Dr.-Ing. Martin H. Zwiellehner (SAR Group), who presented the development and application of AI in a large-scale plant for thermal waste treatment. This presentation attracted numerous participants and underlined the importance of AI technologies in industrial applications. The conference was characterized not only by its top-class presentations, but also by the intensive professional exchange among the participants. Thanks to the dedicated leadership of Dr. Zwiellehner and Dr.-Ing. Ragnar Warnecke from GKS Gemeinschaftskraftwerk, many valuable discussions were held and contacts made. Special thanks also go to Manuela Schulz from the VDI, who contributed to the successful organization of the event. We would also like to expressly thank all the speakers who prepared and delivered their presentations – all of which were of high quality – with great commitment. The participants left the conference with new ideas, contacts and a deep understanding of the complex issues surrounding combustion plants and corrosion.
